Jodi Serota is the owner of a 12-sided, 36 ft. diameter canvas Labyrinth. Her Labyrinth has the same pattern as the world-famous Labyrinth at the Chartres Cathedral in Chartres, France. She creates various events throughout the year, using the Labyrinth for consciousness-raising and healing.
The Labyrinth is a 12th Century mystical tool that assists us in raising our consciousness, experiencing deep levels of healing and intuition and embodying a fuller sense of wholeness.
For centuries, Labyrinths have been used all over the globe for prayer, ritual, initiation, personal growth and spiritual expansion. A Labyrinth is different from a maze in that it is unicursal, offering only one route to the center and back out again. There are no blocked areas where you would need to logically figure out how to get through the pattern. It is designed so that at any given point on the path, you are able to see the center, and by having this visual assistance you may be gently led through the Labyrinth's circuitry to the center. Arriving at the center of the Labyrinth symbolizes finding the "center" of yourself and being at one with God, Spirit, The Universe, The Cosmos or however you understand your connection of being centered and aligned with everything that exists.
During a Labyrinth walk, the left and right hemispheres of the brain are balanced, leading to the perfect state for accessing intuition and creativity. The walk also facilitates the perfect combination of breath and movement. By walking through the Labyrinth, you can enjoy the experiences and effects of the artistic pattern of sacred geometry which has been passed down through the ages.
